Insurance Information & Fees

Insurance Information

Psychological services are covered through a variety of benefit plans and may have the option of direct billing. You may have insurance coverage through your Employee Extended Benefits Plan, private insurance plan, or through Employee Assistance Programs. Some third party insurance companies that typically allow direct billing include Green Shield, Blue Cross, Manulife and Equitable Life. It is up to each individual client to contact their insurance company to determine what services are covered. Clients can use any medical receipts that have not been reimbursed by health plans to receive deductions on their taxes. Typically, the medical expenses must add up to 3% of their income in order to have an effect.

Fees

The current fee for any psychological counselling or consulting service in Alberta is $200/hour and $225/hour for Family and Assessment Services. Group Counselling is billed at $60 per session. The current fee for any Psychological Service in BC is $225/hour. The current fee schedule recommended by the Psychologists' Association of Alberta (PAA) can be found on their website. As well as the British Columbia Psychological Association https://www.psychologists.bc.ca/

Psychological Assessments are charged at our hourly rate and "hours of service" are dependent on type of assessment. This includes the intake, a thorough assessment based on referral or presenting problem, a report with recommendations, and a session to debrief on results. Our billing structure will be explained by our office in more detail but typically payments are made in three instalments.

Instalment one includes the parent/adult client intake session. Instalment two includes all testing sessions. Instalment three includes test scoring, interpretation, report writing, and feedback/recommendation session with parents/client.

All fees must be paid before report is released.

You can contact us for a "FREE" 15 minute phone consultation to determine whether our services are the "right fit" for you and/ or your family.

Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) & Other Funding Agencies (Alberta)

We are vendors through Disability Services (FSCD)- which means we can direct bill part of our fee. It is up to each individual client to contact their caseworker to determine if services are covered under their service agreement. Ask how you can be "FUNDED" to receive psychological consultation and counselling services from Creative Minds Consulting Inc. FSCD covers only a “portion” of the full psychological rate. Any fees not covered by FSCD can be covered by most/all benefit companies under “psychological services” or can be paid privately. Please refer to your benefit company and FSCD for coverage information.

We are also contracted by Child and Family Services (CFS) for families needing supports through their Family Enhancement programs. Should you require supports through CFS, please speak to your caseworker about counselling through Creative Minds Consulting Inc.

Autism Services Through BC Ministry of Children and Family Development (British Columbia)

Psychologists are not required to be part of the Registry of Autism Service Providers (RASP) list. Counselling and Therapy services are eligible through the Autism Funding Unit. However, parents are required to submit a “Request to Pay Service Providers” to the Autism Funding Unit. Please inquire with your caseworker/assessor before accessing services to determine eligibility

Payment

Payments can be made by email money transfer. Cash or Credit Card payments are also accepted. Payments are due immediately after each session or as contracted.

Any appointment missed or not given 24 hours’ notice must be paid in full or will be billed on the contracted invoice. If you need to re-schedule, we will make every effort to do so on the next available time.
